KEY #2

Key #2 investigates how seemingly inconsequential items, like keys, hold deeper meaning—both as personal relics and as symbols of broader social shifts. In my exploration of the hidden narratives harbored by these inconsequential items, I’ve found a lot of overlap between objects associated with gay flagging and those rooted in patriarchal traditions.

Keys, once markers of ownership over something, became a symbol of independence for women entering the workforce during WWII, which evolved into visible signifiers of identity within the lesbian community.

What began as a subconscious attachment to everyday items evolved into sculptures that explore these unseen threads, creating a sense of connection with those who came before me.
